Fanclub Branding

It’s great to work with old friends. Jimmy and I have been hommies since age 12 so when he approached about branding for his new iTunes Distribution company I was pretty hyped. Guy was talking like Joker from Batman and the Green Hornet type and all sorts of refreshing directions. The muppets didnt quite make the cut but over all a fun palette and package. You can view the full Fanclub banner and page on iTunes Europe.

Aequitas Infographics

Last spring I had the chance to collaborate with the amazing mister Kevin Breedlove of Breedlove Creative fame on a series of info graphics for the Aequitas financial company. Though the illustrations seem pretty fun and simple it was quite an undertaking for my non-business guy brain to understand all the information and then spit out something in simple visual terms. Good times were had by all.

‘Leaves of Nevada County’ Ltd. Edition Shirt

The first installment in my new series of shirts is ready to ship. Screenprinted in gold with orange highlights with local inkist Jrob, this series pays tribute to my new home in Nevada County, California. The leaves depicted are all specimens I picked up during my wanderings in Nevada County last spring. Inspired by botanical illustration layout I have replaced latin names for the location that each leaf was found in. I call the direction ‘Autumnal Cartography’.

Experimenting with colors was titilating and I decided to rock 3 colorways for each men’s and women’s fits.  Printed on American Apparel bodies in an ultra limited edition of 50. The final fine art piece is actually larger and was finished in ink and water colors. If your in the area you can check out the newly framed piece up in the office.

Bounce Bazaar Music Poster

Poster for a DJ and Circus night we’re throwing in Nevada City (CA). [We being Giant Animal Scratch, the newest (and only?) turntablist crew in town] This drawing took up an entire Sunday which is commonly the day of rest but I was very inspired by my fire juggling friend Jeffery. Just kept seeing things flying through the air.

Detail Zoom. Frog. Frog.

Live Sample Looping Turntablism Style

An experiment with live looping via turntable and Ableton my homie Ben and I threw down some samples and came out with this rough gem.

‘Thoughts on Pattern Design’ Booklet

If you haven’t seen it yet I recently put together a small booklet that waxes philosophic on the subject of surface pattern design. We look at shape, color, sizing and application of patterns but as a whole we are really looking at ‘Creative Mileage’: the great potential inherent in a single piece of art to be applied to it’s fullest creative extent.

5 postcard set sealed in a 4″x6″ recycled kraft tri-fold envelope with hand screened gold leaf. Read more in the About section of my new site.

‘Macaw: Color of Flight’ Poster Print

You may or may not know that I love animals and nature and have a concern for their continued survival. This recent poster project was inspired by the macaw, a bird of great color and heart. It features the tesselating surface pattern of the Scarlet Macaw and is dedicated to their colorful presence on the earth. Printed with archival inks on quality 13″x19″ paper in limited editions including oversized recycled kraft envelopes hand screened with a gold leaf. The Official Launch of ScottNice.com

Scott Nice geo leaf

Welcome to the launch of my new portfolio site. It’s been a long process on top of a busy design schedule but I’m super hyped on the final product. All photography is by yours truly (except where noted) and it was good to get grimey in the studio again after a few years’ photo hiatus. Extra big thanks goes to Henno van Arkel who did all the programming for the site. Thanks to Jeff Baker and Mike Basher for their studio equipment advice, Miranda Currie for her modeling, Shawna Hein for ‘user experience’ conversation and Paul and Judy Howard for being rad. Enjoy!
